The last month of the year has arrived and that of course means a lot of holidays, a lot of food and probably a drink here and there. But how do you make sure that you don’t lose everything you’ve built up with training this month? And how do you keep feeling nice and fit and energetic with all those temptations around you? You can read it here in this blog!

Tip #1: Hiking outdoors

In the winter months we spend far too much time indoors. So take a walk every day and enjoy the fresh air! It helps to schedule a fixed time during the day for this. For example, start your morning with a walk or take a walk after lunch.

Tip #2: Stick to your routines!

With the holidays approaching, it’s not a good excuse to give up on your routines. It is precisely because of the holidays that it is important that we continue to train. Are you used to training four times a week? Then hold it! If you don’t feel like or don’t have much time to train, try a circuit home workout or go for a run.

Tip #3: Stay hydrated

If you drink enough water, you will enjoy several benefits. If you drink water before a meal, you will already feel more satiated, which will automatically make you eat less. In addition, the waste products are better disposed of when you drink a lot of water. As a result, your body is less forced to store fat to store the waste. Have a nice cup of hot tea instead of water during these cold months! This way you stay warm during this cold month.

Tip #4: Time to bake!

December is the perfect month to spend a lot of time in the kitchen baking delicious cookies and cakes. We have a lot of healthy and protein-rich baking recipes for you online! For example, try our Banana Bread recipe or go for the vegan oatmeal cookies. With other baked goods you can also replace sugar with cinnamon, much healthier! Moreover, protein powder also makes a recipe nice and sweet, but still responsible.

Tip #5: Don’t deny yourself anything

Maybe these statements sound familiar to you: Don’t let me eat ginger nuts, because once I started I’ll eat the whole bag empty. Or the upcoming party I’m not going to drink alcohol, because that’s happening enough this month. But be honest now, have these denials ever done you any good? By denying yourself things, it becomes more tempting to do it. Instead, you better enjoy consciously during the month of December! Put your guilt aside, because it is of no use to you at all.

Tip #6: Take your vitamins!

To maintain your resistance, it is advisable to take extra vitamins. Your resistance is deteriorating because we have to miss the sun. That is why a vitamin D supplement is not a superfluous luxury in winter. In addition, we eat less fresh fruit and vegetables, which in turn has consequences for other vitamins. We recommend that you take vitamins A, C, D, B11, B12 and B6 daily. Finally, it is good to take extra minerals such as Selenium and Zinc. Do you experience the problem that you eat less vegetables? Maybe our supplementCritical Greens from Applied Nutrition is something for you! This allows you to get the vitamin from your vegetables in an easy way.

Tip #7: Also take your rest

Most people regret the fact that it gets dark so early in the winter. But we can turn this into something positive! Because it gets dark early, it might be easier to get to bed early. You will also probably stay at home more often and you can enjoy doing nothing at all. Spend a Sunday in your pajamas, because this month full of parties we should not forget our rest.

Tip #8: Try moving in a different way

Now that it is winter, there is also an opportunity to try out other sports! Maybe we’ll be lucky this winter and there will be ice so we can skate. But of course you can also find a nice ice rink to go skating there. Are you going on a skiing holiday soon? Then find a ski slope to get in the mood!

Tip #9: Don’t skip your breakfast!

They say breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a pauper. Our tip for the month of December: Keep having a good breakfast, so that you don’t get cravings in between and eat more bad snacks. Because of all the dinners it is of course tempting to skip your breakfast the next day, but certainly not wise!

Tip #10: Netflix and chill

December is also just a wonderful month to relax through a Netflix series. Not sure what to watch? Here are our recommendations:

Losers: How do we deal with defeat in a world where it’s all about winning? In this series they follow athletes who have managed to turn a painful loss into a triumph.

Addicted to Life: Athletes seek out the most extreme situations. From gigantic waves to extreme snowy mountain slopes. Just watch this movie safely from your couch, but still feel the tension!

The Redeem Team: After a shocking performance at the 2004 Olympics, the US men’s basketball team wants to make amends and aim for gold at the 2008 Beijing Games.

With these tips you will surely manage to get through the month of December in a good and healthy way!
